While almost everything is marked down for the long weekend, some Labor Day appliance sales are better than others. “Most large appliances, except refrigerators, go on sale over Labor Day weekend, and some of the sales will continue through September,” says Bodge. “Expect to see discounts from large chains like Home Depot and Lowe’s, which are open on Labor Day, in the 25 to 40% off range.”

If you’re still not convinced, think of it this way: These appliances will likely be more energy-efficient than what you currently have, so you’ll actually end up saving a bundle in the long run by lowering your household bills.
