How we tested it
Our tester, Leah Groth, often woke up with back pain and tightness around her neck. She struggled to get comfortable at night despite sleeping on a mattress that was designed to help with back pain. Groth was excited to get her hands on this Tempur-Pedic mattress topper and hoped that it would be the solution she needed. “I have always wanted a Tempur-Pedic mattress, but they are prohibitively expensive for most people,” she says. “For under $500, this topper made out of the brand’s trademark pressure relieving Tempur-Material, a high-quality memory foam, transformed my bed and sleep experience.”
The Tempur-Pedic mattress topper arrived at Groth’s door shrink-wrapped in plastic and rolled up in a box. According to Groth, it weighed about 30 pounds, but she was able to carry it inside and up a flight of stairs without any trouble. Once she got it inside and on her bed, it expanded quickly and Groth didn’t notice any odors. “I didn’t feel the need to give it any time before making the bed,” she says. Speaking of making the bed, Groth was pleased to discover that the Tempur-Pedic mattress topper fit her mattress perfectly. “The sizing was perfect, and my mattress protector and fitted sheets easily secured over it,” she says.
Groth had high hopes for this mattress topper as soon as she sat down on it. “When I first flopped down, I honestly was startled by how much more comfortable the 3-inch topper made my mattress. Super plush, it immediately conformed to my body and relieved pressure on my joints,” she explains. “Then, my 100-pound dog plopped down on it, and even he sunk into the memory foam. But the beauty is that as soon as I kicked him off, the topper bounced right back.”
After 30 days of sleeping on the Tempur-Pedic mattress topper, Groth noticed that her usual aches and pains had significantly decreased. The mattress topper even helped with a new injury. “I hurt my hip flexor recently during a workout and I could barely walk,” says Groth. “However, when I got into bed, the topper provided immediate pressure point relief. I was shocked when I woke up and felt so much better in the morning.” In fact, this topper provided Groth with so much relief that she opted to make it a permanent fixture on her bed. “I actually opted to keep it on my bed after testing two other toppers,” she says. “I’m not sure I could ever go back to sleeping without it.”

According to Groth, it lives up to the price and then some. “It is clearly made out of top-of-the-line materials, and I expect it to last for many years. You could buy a really cheap mattress and use this on top and be very happy with your purchase,” she raves. “Overall, I feel like I move around a lot less at night and wake up in the morning with zero back pain and feeling very rested. It’s literally like sleeping on a (supportive) cloud.”
