If you’ve been searching for Google for “when is Amazon Prime Day,” buckle up! The most exciting online shopping ride of the year is here. Amazon’s two-day shopping event is nearly as well-known as Black Friday—and boasts even better savings. Here’s what we know about Amazon Prime Day 2024.

Think of Prime Day as Amazon’s annual retail celebration. The shopping event is a full 48 hours of deals, steals, and lowered prices for Amazon Prime members. These red-hot Amazon Prime sales are only open to Prime members, though. Membership is definitely worth it for these incredible steals—especially since Prime Members also get access to expedited shipping, exclusive Prime Video and Amazon Music year-round, too.

When is Amazon Prime Day?

This year’s 2024 Amazon Prime Day sale is happening now, with the best Amazon Prime Day deals taking place from July 16-17, 2024. The sale began on Tuesday at 12:01 a.m. PT.

Amazon Prime Day ends on Wednesday at 11:59 p.m. PT (technically Thursday morning at 2:59 a.m. ET). However, for the past three years, we’ve seen sales fluctuate by the hour during the event, so it’s best to snag anything you see quickly before it’s too late.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Historically, Prime members enjoy two full days to shop massive markdowns on must-haves in just about every category. This year, we expect similar deep discounts on bestselling electronics, pet care, vacuums, beauty and sporting equipment essentials like leggings. The only drawback? Prime Day deals are timed, so shoppers have to be at the top of their game to get the best steals.

The deals won’t be limited to just Amazon-label products, either. Almost everything on the site will be offered at promotional pricing over the two-day bargain bonanza. However, there’s one catch: you need to be an Amazon Prime member to cash in on the deals. Not a Prime Member? Don’t worry—get a free 30-day trial when it’s time to shop and enjoy the special prices.

When did Amazon Prime Day begin?

Prime Day was introduced in 2015 as a one-day sale, notoriously rivaling Black Friday prices. It was also a celebration of the company’s 20th anniversary. Now, Prime Day has become its own single-platform shopping holiday that millions of shoppers look forward to every summer. Apart from savings on things like appliances and furniture, some of the most notable sales feature coveted Amazon devices like the Amazon Kindle, Echo smart speakers and more.

What do I need to do to shop Amazon Prime Day?

You need to be an Amazon Prime member in order to shop the deals. Memberships cost about $15 a month and include access to Amazon Music and Prime Video. Head over to the Prime signup page today and enjoy a free 30-day trial before you commit.

What other benefits do Prime Members enjoy?

Apart from Prime Day deals and Amazon video, Prime Members enjoy tons of other convenient benefits. Free two-day shipping is the most popular benefit for last-minute shoppers. Some items have the option of one-day or same-day shipping. Just for Prime deals offer exclusive savings on items throughout the year.

There are also other perks, like “try before you buy” for clothing and a free GrubHub+ membership. Prime Early Access also allows members to take advantage of limited-time lightning deals ahead of other shoppers before they sell out.
