Void of any major holidays, March isn’t known for its sales the way other months are—we’re looking at you, Easter and Memorial Day sales! But who couldn’t use a little retail therapy right now, as we hit the one-year anniversary of COVID-19 entering our lives? If you know what to look for, you can score some pretty huge deals this month—or any time of year if you know the best cheap buys by the month.

Missed your chance to score a post-Christmas TV deal? It’s not too late. March is actually the second-best month of the year to buy a new TV (November is the first), says Julie Ramhold, consumer analyst with DealNews.com. “The reason we tend to see so many TV deals in March is that manufacturers are getting ready to release new models, so retailers are trying to clear out old stock,” Ramhold says. “It also could have to do with the fact that March isn’t exactly known for deals—it’s kind of lacking in that department, so some stores will offer deals just to boost sales during a slow time.” While prices won’t be as great as those around Black Friday, you can still expect to see name-brand 50-inch sets from $300 at stores like Best Buy. But keep an eye out at Dell, as well, because it often bundles gift cards with its TV deals, which makes the sets even more appealing, Ramhold says. One to keep an eye on is the Samsung 75″ Class 7 Series LED 4k Smart Tizen TV that’s currently marked down by $50. Consider picking up a universal remote that pairs with over 650,000 devices to go with your new TV.

The winter sports season is wrapping up, so look for deals at your favorite outdoor store as they try to clear shelves to prepare for the warm weather products. “Last March, Dick’s Sporting Goods knocked an extra $20 off select $100 orders,” Ramhold says. These Giro Adult Verge Zoom Snow Goggles were marked down by 25 percent at press time. “Backcountry has also heavily discounted specific brands—some by up to 60 percent—so it can be a good time to shop for winter gear from bands like The North Face and Patagonia.” Follow these tips to save even more money when shopping online.
Exercise bikes: Bowflex C7 Indoor Cycling Bike

As we head into spring, sales for exercise bikes top out since many people will start to splurge on traditional bikes. Don’t expect to see the Peloton giving away their bikes, but lesser-known bikes such as the Bowflex C7 Indoor Cycling Bike are already on sale. March is the peak month for this sale, though many will also be on sale in April—just be sure to nab one before May, when the sales will be over. Expect to see prices that are up to 40 percent off in March.

So if you missed your chance during the big President’s Day sales, don’t fret. This month, as the countdown to T-day continues (April 15), so too do the sales—and they’re targeting all the last-minute filers. Palmer suggests you shop around for the best deals since retailers including Best Buy, Dell, and Staples already had sales on the tax-prep products.
Ski supplies: The North Face Clementine Triclimate Jacket

What’s left of the unorthodox, socially distanced ski season is winding down, so everything from ski jackets to skis to accessories will be discounted at outdoor supply stores this month. March 14, it’s National Pi Day; while math enthusiasts will be celebrating with some fun equations, the rest of us should pop on masks and race to the supermarket for some great deals on actual pies. Last year, Goldbelly had 40 percent off their pies for most of the month through the 14th (we’re eyeing the Famous Key West Key Lime Pie), while Uber Eats offered $3.14 off, and Whole Foods was selling their large bakery pies, like the French apple tart for $3.14 off.
